The Joint Commission International (JCI) recognizes hospitals adhering to the highest international healthcare standards. The mission of JCI is the widespread improvement of healthcare, creating safer and more modern approaches to medical practises. Hospitals recognized by JCI are hospitals which have shown excellence in the field of medicine, constantly improving and growing with the times.
Founded by one of the largest non profit organizations, JCI has provided accreditation to more than 400 outstanding hospitals worldwide. The process of accreditation involves hospital inspection, wherein the hospital is evaluated by JCI physicians, nurses and health care administrators. These experts visit the hospital and use a thorough set of criteria to assess the practices and facilities. Patients and staff are questioned, as well as the doctors and nurses.
